Things to do at Motse Lodge:
Our pool area with the bar and shaded terrace is the favourite spot for
relaxing in Kanye. At 1.2m deep, the pool is ideal for all ages. Enjoy
a friendly match of basket ball or volley ball. Changing rooms are nearby.
In the cultural village our ladies make traditional pots - you can even
try your hand at making one yourself! The ladies will be happy to teach
you.
Pots and basketware and other crafts from Kanye and the Kalahari are for
sale in our small gift shop.
You can watch the local farmers drive their animals past Motse Lodge
to the nearby Mmakgodumo Dam. If you want some exercise, walk down to
the dam, and admire its birdlife or try fishing.
Kanye is the home of Bangwaketse. We are very proud of our village, and
we enjoy directing our guests to the interesting sites, like the Chief's
court, the recently opened museum, and our bustling new shopping areas.
Drop in for traditional food or a cooling drink at Ko Gae Cafe in Kanye
Mall.
The cafe has live music nights regularly, and there is always pleasant
company and good music.
Thamaga Pottery is about 45 km away on the way to Gaborone. A
range of tableware and souvenirs is on sale. Make a detour to Manyana
and see the San Paintings and Livingstone's tree.
South Africa is just an hour's drive away. Visit the game reserve
at Botsalano, right on the border post at Ramatlabama. Just a
few kilometres beyond is Mafikeng with its many shops.
Visit the Livingstone Historical site, just off the Gaborone road. Excavations
and rebuilding give an impression of the site where the famous Scottish
Dr. Livingstone set up home for some years.
Find out more at the wonderful museum in Molepolole
Other parks are in Gaborone and at Mokolodi. Meet its famous Cheetahs.
Ride the elephants. Enjoy a meal in its excellent restaurant.
For the energetic, we will direct you to the real Botswana. Drive out
to the cattleposts and the lands and meet the people. Or take a day trip
or go camping at one of the pans at the edge of the Kalahari desert, where
you can be sure to see some wildlife.
At the end of your day we look forward to pampering you with a delicous
dinner. Have a sundowner at the poolside or in the bar, and enjoy a talk
with good friends.
How to find Motse Lodge:

100 km North from the Ramatlabama border post at Mafikeng on the Trans
Kalahari Highway, about 400 km from Johannesburg.

km from Ghanzi. From Ghanzi it is only 300 km to Maun - the gateway to
the Okavango.
Coming from Lobatse or Mafikeng you go through Kanye till you have passed
the big BP filling station. Turn right about 100 metres after the BP station,
just before the bus rank.
We are 3 km down the road, the first 2 km on tar, and the last one on
gravel.
Coming from Gaborone / Jwaneng, go past Kanye Centre and turn left after
the bus rank.
